Self Help & Symptom Checker

coldWe are fortunate with our Community that our patients can access a variety of local support groups to keep them fit, active and well.  We are also keen to help patients improve their knowledge of their own health and are advocates of self help and self care.  We hope that the following information will offer some insight and guide you to places where you can find the information you need to stay well.

Take a look and see if you can improve your own understanding of your health and well-being! Please encourage others to look here too.

Below is a list of common minor ailments that can be safely self managed. You will see links to other websites which can offer you further information about managing your condition. If there is something else you would like advice on or would like this posted, just let us know and we will add it to the site.

The Community Pharmacies also offer help for minor illnesses. It might be worth trying them first for an over the counter medicine before you come to see the GP.

You can also try the Symptom Checker to help you to see what might be wrong.

Often our Doctors and Nurses will give you patient information leaflets about your condition.  These can be found on the Patient.co.uk website if you search by problem or symptom.

Common ailments that can be self managed :

Back pain

We are fortunate to have onsite physiotherapy and you can self refer without seeing the GP first.  Please complete the self referral form and hand it back in at the surgery so the Physio's can triage before booking the appointment.

Here is a short video about self care and what you can do to help in case there is a waiting list to see a physio.
